VA Tech WABAG has secured a large repeat order from the Melamchi Water Supply Development Board (MWSDB), Government of Nepal, to design, build and operate a 255 MLD water treatment plant in the Kathmandu Valley. Classified as a “Large” order by the company, the project is valued between $30 million and $75 million.

The contract includes design, engineering, supply, construction, installation, and commissioning of the Sundarijal Water Treatment Plant, along with five years of operation and maintenance. The EPC work is expected to be completed within 36 months.

The new plant will be constructed adjacent to the existing Melamchi facility, which WABAG commissioned in 2017. It will treat water sourced from the Melamchi, Yangri, and Larke rivers to meet Nepal’s National Drinking Water Quality Standards.

The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank and represents another significant milestone in WABAG’s continued contribution to Nepal’s urban water infrastructure.
