UltraTech Cement Scales Up EV Trucks for Sustainable Logistics

UltraTech Cement Limited, India’s largest cement and ready-mix concrete company, is significantly scaling up its use of electric vehicles (EV trucks) in logistics operations. The company has signed a transport service contract to deploy approximately 100 EV trucks for transporting 75,000 MT of clinker monthly from its Dhar Cement Works in Madhya Pradesh to Dhule Cement Works in Maharashtra, covering a 400 km roundtrip.
This initiative marks the largest deployment of EV trucks by a cement company in India for long-distance transport. It is expected to cut transport emissions by 17,000 MT of CO2 annually.
Following a successful pilot launched in January 2024 with five EV trucks, UltraTech is exploring additional routes and plans to deploy 500 EV trucks by June 2025 under India’s eFAST initiative. The company, which already operates over 468 CNG and 67 LNG trucks, continues to pioneer 'Green Logistics' in the cement sector.
