Adding to the momentum of redevelopment plans of the National Capital, the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) has recently signed an MoU with public sector construction enterprise NBCC and Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for redevelopment of seven General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) at a cost of Rs. 32,835-cr in the heart of Delhi, said official sources, claiming that NBCC will redevelop Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Nauroji Nagar and CPWD will take up the reconstruction of old structure in areas like Kasturba Nagar, Thyagraj Nagar, Srinivaspuri and Mohammadpur, as the Union cabinet had already approved these projects earlier in the year. Prior to this, old structures of government owned buildings in locations like Motibagh and Kidwai Nagar (East) had been redeveloped on similar lines, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Rajiv Gauba said, adding that this initiative has been touted as bigger and significant as it is a self-sustainable project. The scope of work in the projects included maintenance and operation costs for 30 years and the project would be implemented on self-financing basis by sale of commercial built-up area of 8.07 lakh sq.m constructed in Nauroji Nagar and Sarojini Nagar by NBCC as a part of the mega project.
