Delhi govt. to launch Yamuna Riverfront Project

Yamuna Riverfront Project
In order to inject a complete facelift to the surrounding areas of Yamuna River, the Delhi government has decided to build Yamuna Riverfront Project for which initial funds of Rs. 200-cr has already been set aside. The project, which has been lying in limbo for a long time, is set to come out of cold storage with the Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal is all set to launch project's first phase next month. A five-km long stretch from upstream Wazirabad has been chosen in this regard, whereby, the construction work will be completely ecological and involve the construction of eco-friendly structures only and will have wetlands, facilities of rowing, canoeing, a modern akhara for wrestling practices. The riverfront development will be in line with the recommendations of ecologist, CR Babu, strictly adhering to the NGT guidelines.
