RVNL Wins Rs 2,977 Crore NMDC Contract for 10 MTPA Ore Handling Facility at Visakhapatnam

RVNL
Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has secured a Letter of Award (LoA) from NMDC Limited for the development of a 10 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) buffer stockpile and blending yard facility at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. The contract, valued at Rs 2,977 crore, will be executed over a period of 42 months.

The project is aimed at strengthening NMDC's iron ore handling and logistics infrastructure at Visakhapatnam, a major mineral export and cargo-handling hub on India's eastern coast.

Under the scope of work, RVNL will develop buffer stockpiles and blending yard infrastructure to facilitate efficient storage, handling and dispatch of iron ore. The facility is expected to improve operational flexibility, optimise inventory management and enhance cargo movement efficiency.

The project will support NMDC's growing production and export requirements by creating a modern ore-handling ecosystem capable of managing large volumes of material. It is also expected to strengthen the company's supply chain capabilities and improve logistics efficiency for customers.

The development forms part of NMDC's broader strategy to enhance its mining and mineral transportation infrastructure while supporting increasing demand from the domestic and international steel sectors.

Once completed, the facility will play a key role in improving iron ore evacuation, storage and blending operations at Visakhapatnam, further strengthening the port city's position as a critical logistics gateway for India's mining industry.
