TN takes up ₹146-cr road widening project

The state administration has decided to widen the four-lane GST Road between Perungalathur and Singaperumal Kovil into an eight-lane highway, which among others, involves construction of nine bridges and multiple link roads at an investment of ₹146.41 crore, said, official sources. A part of the construction of Medavakkam flyover has been completed. Of the 81 pillars that have to be erected on the already cleared Tambaram-Velacheri stretch, 76 have been completed. Similarly, work on 10 of the 31 pillars on the other side is going on in full swing. The state government has also announced a new flyover at Selaiyur and a foot over bridge at Tambaram, as part of the Traffic Decongestion initiative.
