Hill Highway stretch in Kerala
The government has granted technical sanction for the 14-km stretch of the proposed Hill Highway from Pookkottumpadam to Edakkara in the Malappuram district in kerala. The 34-km proposed highway from Pookkottumpadam to Munderi, which is one of the three hill highway stretches in the district, is passing through Amarambalam, Karulayi, Moothedam, Edakkara, Chungathara and Pothukallu grama panchayats. Tender procedures for construction work of the highway would begin shortly as the land acquisition in Amarambalam, Karulayi and Moothedam grama panchayats have already been completed. The government has granted technical sanction for construction of the stretch from Pookkottumpadam in Amarambalam panchayat to Kattadippalam in Edakkara panchayat border, at a cost of ₹61 crore. Meanwhile, following survey for the land acquisition in Edakkara and Chungathara panchayat and consent letter from landowners, the land would be handed over to PWD. After this, the proposal for the 16-km highway work from Kattadippalam to farm gate near Thamburattikallu would be submitted for technical sanction. The road will pass through Edakkara, Palunda and Pothukallu to reach Thamburattikallu for which construction is being fast tracked.
