The Tamil Nadu government has decided to construct a 10.1km four-lane flyover on the expressway starting from Uppilipalayam Junction and ending after Kovai Medical Centre Hospital (KMCH). Deputy chief minister and state finance minister, O Panneerselvam, said that the state government has accorded sanction for the elevated road to be constructed at a cost of ₹1,620 crore and a provision of ₹200 crore has already been made in the Budget for 2020-21 for implementation of the project. A senior official from the highways department said that the flyover would have entry and exit ramps for vehicles at four locations near Anna Statue, Fun Mall Junction, Hope College and Airport Junction. This is the first flyover which will be constructed with multiple ramps in the district and the state has decided to include ramps only at those locations where the requirement of land acquisition is negligible. The flyover design is almost at the final stage and once completed, will be submitted for technical approval.
