TN clears ₹5,650-cr national highway ventures

The state government in Tamil Nadu has fast tracked the Chennai Port-Maduravoyal elevated project and will be floating tenders shortly, said an official spokesperson. The total cost of the six-lane project has been estimated at ₹2,800 crore. Widening of the existing two lane into four and six lanes from Karur-Coimbatore section of NH-67 including Coimbatore Ring Road is tentatively being taken up at an investment of ₹2,850 crore. This 181.5 km project will benefit Kangayem, Vellakoil and Palladam areas in a big way. In the first case, ₹1,400 crore has been targeted for land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation. The 20.23-km long road project will be expanded up to Sriperumbudur. The DPR is being prepared for all the projects, said an official spokesperson.
