Vijayawada gets ₹3,548-cr rail network upgrade

Rail Network
Vijayawada railway division in AP will invest ₹3,548 crore for capacity enhancement to reduce pressure on the city’s railway station. Currently, 10 platforms are catering to around 200 trains every day, informed divisional railway manager (DRM) R Dhananjayulu. Work has already started to make Rayanapadu a satellite station. Soon, a few express trains like Gautami, Nanded, Sambalpur and Vizag would be routed to Rayanapadu bypassing the Vijayawada railway station. A rail flyover would also be constructed to make the freight trains coming in from Kondapalli towards Kakinada, bypassing the Vijayawada station.
