The Telangana Government has brought the regional ring road (RRR) project back on track. The mega road project, which involves an investment of ₹13,000 crore, will improve connectivity between outer ring road (ORR) and important urban clusters including Gajwel, the constituency represented by the state's CM K Chandrasekhar Rao. The state has agreed to share ₹500 crore, the 50% cost towards land acquisition to execute the project. The revival of the project assumes significance as this is one of the projects closely monitored by KCR. Two years ago, the Union transport and highways ministry had raised queries over the financial viability of the ₹13,000 crore regional ring road plan submitted by the Telangana government and had asked the state to get a fresh study on the ring road project and incorporate details of how the state plans to recover the huge investment that would be entailed to develop the 330 km regional ring road. Officials in the Roads and Buildings department said the state has been submitting replies and details to every query of the Union ministry and now has finally decided to build the prestigious regional ring road project with central funding.
