Senior IAS officer Sukhbir Singh Sandhu recently took over as the chairman of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), succeeding Nagendra Nath Sinha who has been assigned the job of Secretary, Department of Border Management. Dr. Sandhu, an IAS Officer of 1988 batch of Uttarakhand cadre, has held important positions in the central government, and in the governments of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. Prior to this, he was Additional Secretary, Department of Higher Education in Ministry of Human Resource Development. He has done his MBBS from Government Medical College, Amritsar and Master's Degree in History from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and is also a law graduate.
