Sonowal Unveils ₹187.33 Cr Infra Projects at Chennai & Kamarajar Ports

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated key infrastructure projects worth ₹187.33 crore at Chennai Port Authority (ChPA) and Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) to bolster port efficiency and promote green initiatives. Highlights include four new EXIM godowns at Chennai Port, costing ₹73.91 crore under the Sagarmala scheme, providing 18,000 sq. meters of secure storage for sensitive cargo.

The Minister also launched a 350-meter concrete coastal road to improve access for heavy cargo and container movement, developed for ₹4 crore. Additionally, a ₹88.91 crore railway expansion at KPL adds 2.65 km of track, including three new rail bridges, enhancing connectivity for the growing EXIM trade.
