Shivraj Singh Chouhan Unveils Development Projects in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh

Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, alongside Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav, inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth crores of rupees in Sehore district, Madhya Pradesh.

During the event, Shri Chouhan emphasized the collective responsibility to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. He stated, “The development of villages is essential for the development of the nation. People's participation is key to building a developed India.”

Key Announcements

  • Narmada Water Supply to Sehore: Shri Chouhan confirmed ongoing efforts to bring Narmada river water to Sehore and surrounding areas, including farmlands in Ashta and Ichhawar.
  • Bhopal to Become a Metropolitan City: He announced that Bhopal is being declared a metropolitan city, which will accelerate growth in Sehore due to increased connectivity and shared progress.
  • Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY): He announced approval for 7.85 lakh homes under PMAY, completing the 2018+ list that originally sanctioned 14 lakh homes. He assured that new eligible families will also be included following ongoing survey verifications.
  • MGNREGA Funds: Madhya Pradesh is set to receive ₹6,262 crore under MGNREGA this year to boost rural employment and infrastructure.
  • Women Empowerment: Highlighting government initiatives, Shri Chouhan stated that 1.48 crore women have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’ (earning ₹1 lakh+ annually), and efforts are underway to increase this number further, ensuring financial independence for women.
  • Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan: As part of this initiative, 16,000 agricultural scientists are being mobilized to visit villages and share practical farming solutions directly with farmers. Shri Chouhan urged farmers to adopt these techniques to boost productivity and achieve the goal of Viksit Krishi for a Viksit Bharat.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav assured that irrigation facilities will be expanded to every field and full water support will be ensured to maximize agricultural output in Madhya Pradesh.
