L&T Bags Order from JSW Energy for Bhavali Pumped Storage Project in Maharashtra

Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HCI) division has secured a contract from JSW Energy for the development of the Bhavali Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Maharashtra. The project, with a total installed capacity of 1,500 MW, is strategically located across the Nashik and Thane districts and comprises multiple smaller generating units.
L&T’s scope of work includes the complete execution of civil works for the project, showcasing its expertise in complex hydroelectric infrastructure. Key components include the construction of access roads, upper and lower reservoirs, water conductor system, pressure tunnels, and an underground powerhouse.
The Bhavali PSP is a vital step in India’s transition to clean and reliable energy, and reinforces L&T’s leadership in building large-scale pumped hydro storage systems that support grid stability and renewable integration.
