Second airport in NCR on anvil

The Jewar airport in the NCR region, which was first proposed more than one and a half decade ago, is all set to become reality with the Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Aditya Nath directing the state administration to explore the possibility of setting up the second international airport in Greater Noida. Now the city will hope for the project and also another airport proposed in Agra, which also came up during a review meeting that Yogi held with the industries department. The Jewar project has been cleared by the ministry of Defence, said sources, but the site clearance certificate from the aviation ministry is awaited. A source associated with the project said that the state government will go ahead with the project planned project on an area of 400 acres of land that has been marked for the project after it receives a nod from the steering committee of the Civil Aviation ministry. The project was conceptualized to ease growing air traffic at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport had managed to get all clearances in 2000 itself when the BJP government in the state proposed the project.
