Sandvik Launches First ‘Made-in-India’ MC350 Continuous Miner at Pune Facility

Sandvik marked a proud milestone in its India journey with the official launch and handover of the first ‘Made-in-India’ Sandvik MC350 low-height continuous miner at a grand ceremony held at its Pune factory. The first machine was handed over to The Mining Company (TMC).

The MC350 continuous miner, now manufactured in India, combines Sandvik’s global design expertise with local manufacturing excellence. Designed primarily for coal and potash mining, the machine delivers high cutting power, advanced shear-up capability, and enhanced machine health monitoring for longer uptime and reduced operational costs. Its robust construction ensures greater cutting force, increased utilization, and extended lifespan, ideal for confined underground mining environments.

The event was graced by eminent dignitaries, including Jai Prakash Dwivedi, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Western Coalfields Limited; Atul Dwivedi, Managing Director, The Mining Company; R.C. Mohapatra, Director (Technical), South Eastern Coalfields Limited; and Girish Gopinath Nair, Director (Technical), Eastern Coalfields Limited. Also present were Thomas Vallant, Global President, Sandvik Mechanical Cutting Division; Manojit Haldar, Managing Director & President, Sandvik Mining India; and Prabhat Mittal, Vice President, Mechanical Cutting Division India, along with Sandvik leadership and project teams.
