₹16,240 Cr Allocated for Mumbai's Railway Network Upgrade

The central government has allocated ₹16,240 crore to enhance Mumbai's railway infrastructure. The funds will support station upgrades, land acquisition, additional tracks, elevated corridors, and interchange links, among other improvements.
Plans include constructing 301 new railway tracks and developing new terminals at Parel and Jogeshwari. Existing terminals at Bandra, Vasai Road, Mumbai Central, and CSMT will also see capacity expansions.
On the Central Line, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) will be upgraded to separate local and long-distance trains. Additionally, Parel, Panvel, and Kalyan are set to emerge as key junctions.
