TN Govt unveils ₹3,200 crore road upgrade scheme

Tamil Nadu Government has unveiled the 'Chief Minister Road Improvement Scheme' to widen the roads connecting taluk and district headquarters in the next ten years. The government will spend 3,200 crores this fiscal to widen roads to 2-lane and 4-lane. Around 2,200km of state highways will be upgraded to 4-lane and 6,700km to 2-lane. This will reduce traffic congestion and ensure smooth and safe transport. Bypasses will also be built for the municipalities along the State Highways to de-congest the traffic and upgrade Panchayat roads.
