NHAI
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started the construction of the road project in trans-Yamuna areas in Delhi, which will be a part of the National Highway 709B (NH-709B) between Akshardham (Delhi) and Saharanpur Bypass (Uttar Pradesh). The 14.7-km long six-lane segment in Delhi, being built at a cost of ₹1,100 crore and will be completed by December 2024.

Project Director, NHAI, Arvind Kumar, informed that the agency has started the construction work and is carrying out piling work for the road over bridge near Akshardham temple, above the railway line. The corridor will start from Akshardham flyover and pass through some of the most densely populated areas in east and north-east Delhi such as Geeta Colony, Shastri Park, Khajuri Khas, and Karawal Nagar, among others. The access-controlled corridor in Delhi is a part of the 155-km national highway connecting Akshardham to Saharanpur Bypass in Uttar Pradesh. Of the 14.7-km stretch in Delhi, 6.78-km will be elevated — from Geeta Colony to CRPF camp in Wazirabad. Three underpasses for light vehicles will also be constructed along the corridor to ensure the smooth movement of vehicular traffic through these extremely congested neighborhoods.
