CSIR-CRRI Launches Indigenous Network Survey Vehicle for Delhi NCR Urban Road Assessment
The survey vehicle was flagged off by Dr. Ch. Ravi Sekhar, Director, CSIR-CRRI, marking the start of field surveys being carried out in collaboration with the Public Works Department (PWD), Government of NCT of Delhi, under the framework of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
The indigenous NSV is equipped with advanced technologies, including high-speed laser profiling, UHD imaging, GPS/GNSS positioning, automated pavement distress mapping and AI-enabled data analytics, enabling rapid, non-contact assessment of pavement condition, road roughness, drainage, shoulders and roadside assets with minimal traffic disruption.
The data collected will support road asset management, scientific maintenance planning, pavement design, drainage improvement, road safety and dust pollution mitigation across Delhi NCR. The initiative is expected to improve urban road quality, reduce maintenance costs and promote sustainable, technology-driven infrastructure development.
