MoRTH expedites Agartala-Khowai highway upgrade in Tripura
The Union transport ministry has fast-tracked the construction of Agartala-Khowai section (PKG-I) of the NH-108B upgrade. The project involves upgrading the existing road stretch to a 2-lane road with a paved shoulder, as part of the ministry's commitment to facilitate seamless connectivity in the northeast region and stimulate economic growth. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari emphasized that this highway will significantly ease the lives of people in Agartala and neighboring districts and also establish connectivity with neighboring Mizoram. The state has already made significant progress in the road infrastructure segment, with six National Highways of 888.81 km length, and four National Highways of 229.25 km length have been declared. In late 2022, the Union Minister announced nine more road projects worth Rs 2,752 crore aimed at upgrading and widening existing national highways across the state.
