Guwahati gets ₹300-cr six-lane road with flyovers

flyover project
Decks have been cleared for the widening of the four-lane Guwahati Bypass into a six-lane with four flyovers and one vehicular underpass and the construction work on the project is set to start shortly. The project aims to decongest Guwahati Bypass, which is currently troublesome due to frequent traffic snarls at several stretches. On commissioning, the project is likely to ease traffic congestion in the entire Bypass stretch. The National Highway Authority of India has awarded the contract to Dhariwal Buildtech Ltd Company of Haryana at an investment of ₹300 crore. The project covers the entire stretch from the Jalukbari Point to Basista Chariali with a flyover each at Boragaon, Gorchuk, Lokhra and Basistha Chariali, besides a vehicular underpass at the Beharbari point. Project Director, NHAI, Suresh Kumar, informed that the project will be completed in 29 months and NHAI has exhorted Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari to launch the construction work of the project virtually soon.
