CREDAI Pune Launches Site Safety Audit Initiative to Strengthen Construction Site Safety

CREDAI-Pune
Reinforcing its commitment to worker welfare and responsible construction practices, CREDAI Pune, through its Labour Welfare Committee, today launched the Site Safety Audit Initiative in collaboration with Safeskill Safety Services. The initiative was inaugurated on 30th June 2026 at Godrej River Royale, Mahalunge, a project by Synergy SKI Infra Developments.

The initiative aims to foster a strong culture of safety across construction sites by encouraging systematic safety assessments and continuous improvement among member developers. It underscores CREDAI Pune's commitment to safeguarding the well-being of construction workers while ensuring adherence to statutory safety norms and industry best practices. The Site Safety Audit programme will assess critical aspects of construction safety, including:
  • Electrical safety
  • Working at heights
  • Excavation activities
  • Material handling
  • Temporary staging and scaffolding
  • Fire safety and hazard management
  • Risk assessment practices
  • Plant and machinery safety
Speaking at the session, Sandeep Shitole Director Operational, Synergy Ski Infra Development said, “We have been associated with this initiative for quite some time and have been working consistently in this direction. However, through CREDAI, we truly understood the importance and significance of this platform. I would like to thank CREDAI for the way it has been motivating and supporting builders, contractors and everyone associated with the construction industry. Their efforts have helped create greater awareness and encouraged industry stakeholders to work towards higher standards. Ours is essentially a service industry, and whatever we do is ultimately for the benefit of our customers and society.”

The audit process will involve detailed site inspections, verification of safety documentation and interactions with project engineers, safety officers and on-site personnel. The programme will be conducted by experienced auditors from Safeskill Safety Services, enabling developers to proactively identify potential safety gaps, strengthen workplace practices and create safer construction environments. Under the initiative, each participating construction site will undergo a comprehensive audit, followed by a detailed report outlining observations, compliance status and recommendations for improvement.

The launch marks the beginning of a collaborative industry effort to elevate safety standards and promote a safe and healthy working environment across construction sites in Pune. CREDAI Pune has already circulated details of the programme among its members and the initiative has received an encouraging response from developers across the city.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Manish Jain, President, CREDAI Pune said, "Construction is one of the largest employment-generating sectors in the country and the safety and well-being of every worker on our sites is a collective responsibility. Through this Site Safety Audit Initiative, CREDAI Pune aims to encourage developers to adopt the highest standards of safety, proactively identify risks and create safer work environments. We believe that a strong culture of safety not only protects lives but also improves productivity and strengthens the overall quality of construction practices across the industry."

J.P. Shroff, Vice President, CREDAI Pune & Chairman – Labour Welfare Committee, said, "Many people become anxious when they hear the word 'audit.' They often wonder what shortcomings will be identified or what observations will be made. However, I would like to request everyone to look at it differently. The word 'audit' is derived from the Latin word 'audire,' which means 'to listen.' The true purpose of an audit is to listen - to understand what is happening on the ground, identify opportunities for improvement and help organizations strengthen their processes. A safety audit is therefore not about finding faults; it is about learning, improving and working together to create safer construction sites for everyone."
