Railways Upgrades 1,337 Stations Under Amrit Bharat Scheme, 172 Redeveloped So Far

Railway-Station
The Ministry of Railways has launched the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with a long-term vision for comprehensive redevelopment of railway stations across the country. The scheme focuses on preparing master plans and implementing improvements in phases to upgrade passenger facilities and integrate stations with surrounding urban areas.

The redevelopment plan includes better access to stations, improved circulation areas, modern station buildings, upgraded waiting halls, toilets, seating arrangements and water booths. It also provides for wider foot overbridges or air concourses, lifts, escalators, ramps, improved platform surfaces and covers, parking facilities and multimodal integration. Special emphasis is placed on amenities for Divyangjan passengers, enhanced information systems and kiosks for local products under the One Station One Product initiative.

The scheme promotes sustainable and environment-friendly solutions, including ballastless tracks and creation of city centre facilities at stations wherever feasible. A total of 1,337 stations have been identified for development under the programme, and redevelopment works at 172 stations have been completed so far.
