The Indian Railways is all set to launch two new rail lines in Uttarakhand at an investment of ₹167.67 crore. The proposal included connecting Champawat district's Tanakpur town to Delhi and Nainital's Lalkuan township with southern India and that the project plans have already sent by the North Eastern Railway to the Railway Board for final approval, general manager of North Eastern Railway, Rajiv Agarwal, said adding that it will also construct under bridge at Lalkua-Kathgodam line and that the expansion of rail network in the state will boost tourism in a big way. The GM informed that the survey work for new location for construction of Kichha-Khatima railway line has been completed and that the detailed project report for the 51.48-km rail line would be prepared by the NER very shortly.
