Railway pushes ₹4,085-cr railway project in Bengal

The northeastern railway has hastened the Sivok-Rangpo 44.96 km long rail line involving an investment of ₹4,085 crore. Out of the total length, 41.55 km falls in West Bengal and 3.41 km in Sikkim. An investment ₹682 crore has been incurred up to March 2020 and an outlay of ₹607 crore has been provided for the current financial year. The state government of Bengal has to expedite Forest and Wildlife clearance for balance 12.38 ha land for Adits of tunnels. Out of 14 tunnels, around 39 km long, works have been taken up on 12 tunnels and progress of around 2.50 km has been achieved. But the state administration of West Bengal is yet to shift 26 structures from the proposed Melli yard site and 4 structures from Riyang yard site for which the full amount of compensation has been paid. The state government has issued the NOC for construction of the project.
