Rail-Projects
RailTel Corporation of India Ltd has secured a Rs 455 crore order from the Railway Ministry to install the indigenous automatic train protection system Kavach on a 1,067 km route under the Jabalpur Division of West Central Railway. Kavach is designed to prevent train collisions, over-speeding and signal passing at danger, significantly improving passenger safety and operational reliability.

Under the project, RailTel will undertake survey, design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of trackside Kavach systems across key and high-density corridors. The coverage includes the Itarsi–Manikpur section, Mahdeiya–Bina Malkheri–Mahadeokheri, the entire Katni complex, Bina Malkheri–Agasod, Satna–Rewa, Kaima–Sagma and Bansapahar–Ohan sections.

The scope of work also involves installation of Kavach equipment at stations, level crossing gates and intermediate block signalling locations, along with optical fibre cable laying, tower erection and related civil, track and electrical works under EPC mode. The initiative is expected to strengthen safety infrastructure across one of the busiest railway divisions in central India.
