The Union government has recently given the ‘go-ahead’ signal for the construction of another road leading to the Lohegaon Airport, which will help in decongesting the approach avenues to the airport, said official sources, claiming that the 400 metre road will pass through the land acquired from the private party as well as a stretch which will be provided by the defence ministry. The new road would stretch towards the VIP Road in one direction and to Vimannagar on the other, thus the two lanes will run parallel to the existing road. The road will originate from the Parking no.-2 of the airport and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been directed to start the construction work without any further delay.
