PM Narendra Modi Launches Rs 4,400 Cr Infrastructure Development Projects in Madurai, Tamil Nadu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 4,400 crore in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, aimed at improving connectivity, boosting tourism and trade, and generating employment opportunities.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation for two major national highway projects, including the four-laning of the Marakkanam–Puducherry section with an investment of over Rs 2,100 crore to strengthen coastal tourism and trade. He also launched the four-laning of the Paramakudi–Ramanathapuram stretch, valued at over Rs 1,800 crore, which will improve access to Rameshwaram and Dhanushkodi and facilitate smoother movement of agricultural and marine products.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 77 railway stations in Tamil Nadu are being modernised, with eight redeveloped stations inaugurated during the event. The Prime Minister also dedicated the Chennai Beach–Chennai Egmore fourth railway line to benefit daily commuters and inaugurated new Akashvani FM relay transmitters in Kumbakonam, Yercaud and Vellore.

Modi said that high-quality infrastructure empowers people by enabling farmers to reach markets faster, easing travel for pilgrims and tourists, and supporting business growth across the state.
