In a bid to change the landscape of Varanasi, the Prime Minister recently launched various development projects worth over ₹550 crore in his Parliamentary constituency. The projects launched include Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) for Puraani Kashi and Atal Incubation Centre at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). The projects for which the foundation stones were laid included the Regional Ophthalmology Centre at BHU. The prime minister said papers relating to lay ring road in the area was gathering dust before 2014 as the previous state government did not allow the project to gather pace due to political reasons but now the construction work is going on fast tracked basis. He further said adding that the development work not only covers Varanasi but adjoining areas as well.
