Odisha fixes 489-km NH length for fiscal

Setting an astounding target of constructing 489 km long national highway during the current fiscal, the state government in Odisha urged the Centre to develop more roads across the state including in western and southern parts of the state through NHAI.

ln this connection, the state government had already held high-level meeting with senior officers of transport ministry and NHAI to fix a monthly target for completion of the targeted highway length. NHAI has completed development of 610 km of road and work for another 529 km length is under way. The bidding process for around 243 km has been completed and projects for development of 596 km are in the pipeline of which, 489km would be commissioned during the current financial year. The state emphasized on the development of NH from Vizag to Jagdalpur which connects Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh and also stressed on expediting work on the Vijayawada-Ranchi Corridor, connecting the state directly with Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand.
