In a bid to speed up the construction work at the international airport project at Jewar in the NCR region, the Noida Authority has approved release of about ₹20,000 crore and also made a provision to acquire 5,000 hectares of land. The state government and Noida authority will contribute ₹1,500 crore each, and the Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway authorities will also have a stake of ₹500 crore each in the project. The Noida Authority has given approval for releasing funds of ₹1,069.50 crores to be used for land acquisition from farmers. The proposed airport is expected to become operational by 2022-23. The UP government has already sanctioned ₹1,259 crore for acquisition of 1,344 acres of land in six adjoining villages.
