M'rashtra approves ₹1,095-cr Thane metro rail line

The Maharashtra government has cleared a 29-km Thane metro line being implemented by the Maha Metro. It will be commissioned in four years at an investment of ₹1,095 crore. Of the total length, 2.2 km will be underground and the rest will be elevated and will have 22 stations. The metro will start from the New Thane metro station in the old city area and will be connected to Wadala-Kasarvadavli Metro at two places including New Thane station and Dongripada. It will also have a link to the Thane-Bhiwandi- Kalyan Metro Line 5 at Majiwada junction. The roofs of the metro stations will accomodate about 10 lakh solar panels, which will provide about 65% of the network's energy requirements, said sources.
