NHIDCL launches NH-244 widening project

NH 244 Widening Project
National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has started the widening of the NH-244 project after the Central government has steered cleared the construction work on Sudhmahadev-Marmat-Doda national highway. The move will provide alternate and safe road connectivity to Doda and Kishtwar districts of J & K after the existing stretch of National Highway 1B from Batote to Pul Doda was declared unsafe due to the reservoir of Baglihar Hydroelectric Project and the initiative will provide proper road connectivity to Goha, Marmat, Khelani, and Dhranga villages. The completion of the project will also prove to a boon to the State, as it will contribute in transformation of socio-economic status of the people of Doda and Kishtwar. In this connection, the preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) work of tunnel is underway so that further steps could be initiated for giving practical shape to the longstanding demand of twin mountainous districts of the hill state, said sources.
