NHAI unveils Rs. 3,000-cr NH upgrade

NHAI National Highway Upgrade
Catering to the surging flow of vehicular traffic on the NH-16, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to expand the 100 km stretch from four to six lanes at an investment of Rs. 3,000cr, project director, NHAI, Srinivasa Rao said, elaborating that the detailed survey has been submitted to the concerned authorities for necessary sanction. As a matter of fact, the proposal to expand the stretch was unveiled about five years ago but remained in limbo due to land acquisition problem in Srikakulam district. Of the 100 km stretch, around 64 km length would come under Srikakulam district and the remaining under Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram district. Around Rs. 1,200-cr would be needed for the expansion in Srikakulam, while the remaining money would be spent on the expansion from Anandapuram to Srikakulam border area of the NH stretch, they added.
