NHAI unveils ₹10,520-cr highway in Benguluru

highway projects
NHAI has speeded up the second phase of the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway, which will be widened from the current four-lane road to a six-lane access-controlled stretch along with two-lane service roads on either side. The ₹7,400 crore project is being built along with the proposed 10-lane, ₹3,120 crore Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway. Road users heading to Madikeri and other places in Kodagu district from Bengaluru will get a shorter travel time as NHAI is also planning a new road that will bypass Mysuru. The current travel time between Bengaluru to Madikeri is around 7.5 hours, which will be reduced to 5 hours. The new road will be carved out from Bommuru Agrahara (near Srirangapatna) which will join the current Bengaluru-Mysuru-Kushalanagara Road near Hunsur-Gonikoppa Road with a length of 51.43 km and save motorists from travelling via Mysuru city or Mysuru Ring Road and also bypass many small towns and villages enroute. Besides this, two bypasses will also come up at Kushalanagar (12.3 km) and at Periyapatna (20.2 km).
