NHAI to start ₹2,000-cr road widening project in AP

NHAI
The Kadapa–Renigunta road stretch, which is currently a two-lane highway, will be widened into a four-lane for which NHAI along with the local Revenue Department has started the process of land acquisition. The project is slated to entail an investment of ₹2,000 crore for which the DPR has been prepared. NH 716 was assigned to the state wing of NHAI as along with Kadapa, vehicles from Kurnool, Chittoor and other states regularly use this stretch. Initially, NHAI officials had decided to widen the four-lane road from RIMS Road to Renigunta but later extended the stretch from Toll-Plaza to Renigunta airport. In view of this, officials prepared the new alignment to build a four-lane road from Badawal to Krishnapatnam port in Nellore district, along the Kadapa-Renigunta road as the Krishnapatnam Port is also being used for exporting iron ore and granite from other parts of Karnataka and Rayalaseema.
