Odisha floats bids for nine new mining blocks

Odisha has floated bids for auctioning nine more mining blocks including seven iron ores, one manganese ore, and one iron and manganese ore block, said official sources. The newest is the third online auction notice in the past fortnight when Purheibahal, Chandiposhhi, Rengalaberha, Gandhalpada, Netrabandha Pahar (West), Dholtapahar, and Jumka Pathriposhi iron ore blocks and Kalimati manganese block were put up for auctioning. Eligible bidders can purchase the tender documents (except for the Kalimati manganese block). The steel and mines department has planned to sell maximum blocks this fiscal. The state government has put 20 operational mines on auction in two phases as the lease period of these mines will end on 31 March 2020. Prior to this, the state had issued a notification for auctioning of seven iron ore and three iron ore and manganese blocks and another notification was issued on 14 October for auctioning five blocks of iron ore, three iron ore and manganese blocks, and two manganese ore blocks.
