NHAI hastens ₹30,000-cr Delhi-Katra road project

NHAI
NHAI together with state government in Punjab, has fast tracked the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway project entailing an investment of ₹30,000 crore, NHAI said adding that the issues had been cleared since the shorter alignment proposed by the authority had now been finalized by the state government and that the state administration speed up the land acquisition process. Among others, the state CM also sought early execution of the Shambu-Jalandhar section, Ludhiana-Talwandi Bhai section of National Highway-95 and referring to four-laning of the Kharar-Banur-Tepla road on National Highway-205A and that despite the road having been transferred to the NHAI, the work has not commenced yet. Demanding a comprehensive review of the toll road in Zirakpur town by the NHAI, along with GMADA and local Municipal Council, the CM said as a result of the road currently being a toll road, there are frequent and major traffic bottlenecks in Zirakpur town on the existing NH-22 section. As a result of the dense residential and commercial activity on both sides of the road, severe traffic jams have become a regular routine necessitating a relook at the toll arrangement, he insisted.
