BMC sanctions ₹785-cr ROBs at Mahalaxmi rail station

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)
The construction work on the rail over bridges (ROBs) at Mahalaxmi railway station in Mumbai is set to start shortly with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) giving clearance for the ₹785 crore project. The two proposed bridges (on Dr. E. Moses Road and on Keshavrao Khadye Marg) will act as additional connectors from Saat Rasta to Worli and will take the load off the existing and century-old Mahalaxmi bridge. BMC has awarded the contract to the APCO-CRFG JV to build the twin bridges. The existing ROB at the Mahalaxmi station was declared dilapidated with the IIT Bombay recommending reducing the bridge's load. Since BMC cannot pull it down without building an alternative bridge, it has planned two ROBs at Mahalaxmi station.
