NCRTC floats tenders for under-ground stretch

The NCRTC, which is executing the Delhi-Meerut (RRTS) corridor connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut at an investment of ₹30,274 crore, has floated tenders for its first underground section between New Ashok Nagar in East Delhi and Sahibabad in Ghaziabad. The project aimed to provide high-speed connectivity between Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut. The 82-km RRTS corridor will mostly be elevated and only 11.53km stretch is going to be underground. The first section of 5.8-km of the 11.53 km., stretch between New Ashok Nagar (elevated) in East Delhi and Bharat Electronic Limited in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad— will be taken up first. The Anand Vihar RRTS station will be the only underground station of the 5.8km section and that the station will be constructed near the existing Metro station (elevated) at the ISBT Anand Vihar and provide an interchange facility for commuters to switch between different transport systems, chief PRO, NCRTC, RRTS Sudhir Kumar Sharma, said.
