NHAI floats tenders for Rs.20,000 cr BCE corridors
In order to speed up Bangalore-Chennai Expressway (BCE) road corridor under the hybrid annuity model (HAM), NHAI is all set to float tenders for the 262-km greenfield highway. The cost of the 8-lane access-controlled expressway project is estimated to be around Rs.20,000 crore. It has been divided into three phases for operational ease, whereby, disbursal of compensation for project-affected persons is under way. The corridor should also integrate good and fast connectivity to the city centre and the government is contemplating industrial clusters along the expressway. The process of taking possession of the lands in the three states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, is currently in full swing. The project is expected to commence by September, for the BCE that would have a right of way of 90 metres and carriageway width of 37.50 metres, said an official spokesperson.
