NE gets flurry of infra projects

Northern Eastern infra projects
In its unfailing quest to build world-class road and rail airport infrastructure across the north-eastern region of the country, Indian Railways have laid greater emphasis on improvement in railway infrastructure and has already taken up the construction work on the 20 major railway projects consisting 13 new lines, 2 gauge conversions and 5 doublings with aggregate length of 2,624 km. Similarly, Transport ministry has also formulated the Special Accelerated Road Development Program for North-East (SARDP-NE) covering 4,099 km, also the Arunachal Pradesh Package of Roads and Highways covering 2,319 km is currently under implementation. In addition, improvement of roads in Assam and Meghalaya has also been taken up on war footing. Construction of new Greenfield Airport at Pakyong and the government is going all out to make operational the non-operational airport at Tezu as quickly as possible.
