Mumbai launches Rs.7,502 cr Sea Link project

The state government in Maharashtra is all set to launch the Bandra-Versova Sea Link project in Mumbai at an investment of Rs.7,502 crore and the construction work is set to start shortly. In this connection, the state Public Works Department already issued a government resolution approving the 17 km bridge connecting major hubs in the city's western suburbs and is expected to ease traffic congestion. The Bandra-Versova Sea Link will be an extension of the existing Bandra-Worli Sea Link and will have roads connecting it to Bandra, Otters Club, Juhu Link Road and Versova Link Road. There will be toll plazas at Bandra, Carter Road, Juhu-Koliwada and Nana-Nani Park, said official sources. The final nod comes recently after the cabinet sub-committee on infrastructure, headed by chief minister already given go-ahead to the project. The VBSL will also have a 30 m long cable-stayed section, similar to the BWSL. Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) - the nodal agency for the project - will commence the process to invite bids (request for proposal) for the construction of the sea link project. The MSRDC has already selected five qualified bidders - Reliance-CGCD JV, Hyundai-ITD Cementation JV, CHEC-Soma JV, HCC-SKEC JV and L&T-Daewoo JV, they added.
