MTDC secures Rs.294 cr road contract

The Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC) has sealed a road contract deal of Rs.294 crore for the construction of 69 bridges between Tamu Kyigone and Kalewa in Myanmar together for building a 149.5 Km long road length. This was stated by the MTDC Executive Engineer Dolen, elaborating that MTDC has been awarded the work of constructing 22 minor and 45 major bridges, two long span bridges and a 149.5 Km long road between Tamu Kyigone and Kalewa in the bordering country. The road and bridges would be constructed in Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) model with funds provided by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The MTDC has been planning to start the construction works in the middle of this year as the design, survey and soil testing works are currently underway. Informing that these projects would be executed in a joint venture together with the Mumbai-based Niraj Cement Structural Construction Company, he added that MTDC will execute other construction works in Manipur and other North Eastern States on EPC model.
