HMR speeds up Rs.14,000 cr metro project

For the second phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail, which is expected to cost Rs.14,000 crore, the Telangana government has approved additional amount of Rs.400 crore for fast tracking connecting Shamshabad airport to Biodiversity junction in Gachibowli area. The money would be used to address issues of land acquisition, relief and rehabilitation. The total investment for the Rayadurgam-Shamshabad airport line has been estimated to be Rs.6,200 at the rate of Rs.200 crore per km. The investment amount would be borne by both the state and central governments. An additional allocation of Rs.50 crore has been sanctioned towards the development of the city‘s suburban railway network – the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS). The Outer Ring Road project will receive Rs.235 crore in addition to Rs.375 crore, which has been allocated as a part of the Musi Riverfront Development Project while the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has been provided Rs.750 crore.
