MSRDC kick-starts ₹14,000-cr ring road project

The Maharashtra government has fast-tracked the land acquisition process for the western part of the ring road project undertaken by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) at an investment of ₹14,000 crore. The mega road project is aimed at easing traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad road stretches. The project is being developed in two parts wherein the first phase of the 68 km long ring road is between Varve Budruk (Tal. Bhor) to Urse (Tal. Maval). In the first phase, the ring road will pass through Maval, Mulshi, Khed, Haveli, Purandar and Bhor talukas in the western part. The total length of the proposed ring road is about 172 km and is 110 m wide, and a total of 2300 hectares of land is required for the construction of the entire project. A space of 30 meters width has been reserved in the middle of the ring road and in the first phase, a 60-meter wide road will be constructed with a provision of increasing the width as per future requirements.
