The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has operationalised a new web-based portal, PAIMANA (Project Assessment, Infrastructure Monitoring & Analytics for Nation-building), to monitor Central Sector infrastructure projects worth Rs 150 crore and above. The portal replaces the earlier Online Computerised Monitoring System and is integrated with DPIIT’s Integrated Project Monitoring Portal through APIs, enabling automatic data flow and reducing manual entry. Nearly 60 percent of projects are now updated automatically, supporting standardised and efficient infrastructure monitoring.

PAIMANA serves as a central repository of infrastructure projects and offers advanced data analytics, interactive dashboards, role-based access and web-generated analytical reports. The portal has been developed in coordination with over 20 ministries and departments, along with DEA and DPIIT, covering project mapping, data migration and validation.

As of January 2026, 1,702 ongoing infrastructure projects with a revised cost of Rs 39.25 lakh crore are being monitored across 17 ministries and departments. The cumulative expenditure stands at Rs 20.02 lakh crore, about 51 percent of the revised project cost. Around 38 percent of projects have achieved over 80 percent physical progress, while 14 percent have crossed 80 percent financial completion.

The Transport and Logistics sector accounts for the highest share, with 1,180 projects valued at Rs 20.65 lakh crore. The Energy sector follows with projects worth Rs 10.84 lakh crore. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways leads in project numbers with 863 projects, while the Ministry of Railways has 249 projects and the largest cost share of Rs 8.5 lakh crore.

In January 2026, three major projects were commissioned, including the third railway line between Patratu and Sonnagar and a renewable energy evacuation transmission scheme at Khavda. Additionally, 203 new projects were added to PAIMANA monitoring, including major power and metro rail projects. The portal is expected to enhance transparency, data accuracy and timely decision-making in India’s infrastructure development.
