MoS Harsh Malhotra Highlights MoRTH’s Progress in Building Safer, Greener Highways

Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways Shri Harsh Malhotra, speaking at the Highway Heroes event, highlighted MoRTH’s key achievements under PM Modi’s leadership. Over the last decade, the ministry has built 60,000+ km of highways, launched major expressways like Delhi–Mumbai and Delhi–Meerut, and increased construction speed from 12 km/day to 30+ km/day.
He shared that these developments have generated over 634 crore man-days of employment, while steps like E20 ethanol blending, Stage-V emission norms, and 14,000 black spot rectifications are making transport greener and safer.
Recognizing truck drivers as Highway Heroes, he outlined welfare efforts like insurance cover, Golden Hour cashless treatment, and skill training. MoRTH has also awarded 501 Wayside Amenities, with 94 operational and 700 more planned by FY 2028–29.
He reaffirmed MoRTH’s commitment to sustainable, inclusive growth in line with the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.
